From Email Marketing Platforms to Closing Sales: A Complete Framework for Business Success

Email Marketing Gives big Boost for Your Business

Email marketing has really fallen out of flavor with a lot of marketers. Many think that email marketing is spammy or outdated so they don’t put enough effort in this marketing channel.

With social media platforms being so popular, business owners tend to gravitate their marketing efforts towards social media platforms. Their main focus is, you guessed it, content marketing!

Then they couple that with paid ads and blogging and they are done with their marketing strategy. Yep, that is their strategy.

I don’t blame them in a sense because social media is as popular as ever and PPC has always worked. Although, these things usually take a lot money and time in order for them to be effective.

When I audit business's strategies, I tend to look for which marketing distribution channels are used and in which manner they’re used. And most of the time, I notice email marketing is an after-thought.

I notice email marketing is an after-thought for a lot of businesses and brands.

Email marketing shouldn't be neglected and when done correctly, it can be a game changer for your marketing strategy. Also it is cost effective comparatively speaking, which I love.

Here is simple framework to implement email marketing that you can use for your business. Just make it your own!

1. Select an Email Marketing Platform

Here are a few platforms to choose from:

ConvertKit

ConvertKit is a powerful email marketing platform has really cemented its place as the go-to tool for businesses and brands.

It is great for non-technical bloggers, creators, or brands that just want to create communities with their audience with ease. One thing that stands out is the ease of use.

The learning curve to master ConvertKit is not daunting to say the least.

They offer the typical free landing page and forms and you can automate your email marketing process as well.

HubSpot

“Why use HubSpot?”

A better question would be, “Why use anything else besides HubSpot?”

HubSpot is a powerful CRM platform built for your marketing, sales, service, operation teams, and most importantly, email marketing.

With HubSpot’s email marketing tool, you can create emails that are optimized to convert your audience right away.

This platform is easy to use because it is a drop and drag editor that allows you to customize your layout with a few push of buttons.

MailChimp

Mailchimp is one of the oldest platforms available for email marketing.

I know a lot of marketers have moved on from MailChimp, but it is still a forever changing and effective email marketing platform.

One thing people love about it is that it allows you to start using their tools for FREE. You can easily create an account and start sending emails without any charge.

We have used MailChimp in the past and the reason we chose them is because we found it easy to use compared to other platforms. It too has a user-friendly drag and drop design just like HubSpot, but the difference, IMO, is that the templates offered are simpler to use.

The support is top tier. If you have a question or just need some tips, you can simply contact them and they will assist.

Omnisend

One thing I can say about Omnisend is that is probably the best email marketing automation tool. Omnisend make building your audience and closing sales a breeze.

If you have an ecommerce business, then Omnisend maybe you go to email marketing platform. It does not matter how big your business is as well.

You can send personalized messages to your audience at the best times! This increase opportunities to always seem to be on time.

This platform is also user-friendly and pricing isn’t too bad as well.

One distribution channel that Omnisend does well in is SMS messaging. You can automate messages straight to the phones of your audience which has been shown to be extremely effective in terms of open rate.

AWeber

With over 700 free email templates to choose from, AWeber is a force in email distribution.

AWeber really shines by converting your blog posts to newsletters. You are able to automate your posts directly to your audience by way of email.

You can also A/B test, integrate with 3rd party apps, and set auto-response of cruise mode.

2. Setup Landing Pages for Email Capture

The trick is to be prepared to give your audience something in exchange for filling out the email signup form for you.

This could be in the form of a prize, a free trial period, a discount or free shipping.

You just have to think creatively here to get the email.

3. Welcome Your New Subscribers

As soon as someone subscribes, you need to welcome them.

Thank them for signing up and you may want to tell them what to expect as well.

4. Time to Educate Your Subscribers

Whether you're educating them of your products or services or just providing educational emails in general, make sure you are nurturing the relationships.

This makes converting much easier down the line.

I discuss more about this in detail here.

5. Time to Convert

Now that you have built a nurturing relationship, it is now time to convert subscribers into customers.

Offer incentives for these subscribers to purchase early. Give extra discounts to those that purchase from links in email.

This will help create urgency to this group of leads.

And because you now have rapport and you have offered discounts, they will be happy repeat customers, hopefully for life!

6. Retention Marketing

You have worked hard capturing your customers' attention and now you have made a sale.

Wouldn't it be easier if you could just get that same customer to purchase from you again?

I know that it that it typically would cost you 10x more to acquire a new customer as opposed to selling a current customer.

It costs a business 10x more to acquire a new customer as opposed to re-selling a current customer.

This means that your marketing funnel should not end after the purchase. It should be integrated into your email marketing.

Retention marketing is just as important as the front-end marketing.

I believe heavily in retention marketing; check out my post on Twitter below.

Want to keep your client? Want repeat business?

If your answer is yes, then do these 3 things:

  • Create a one-of-a-kind product that'll keep your customer coming back for more.

  • Focus on retention marketing - create a backend marketing funnel that fits your business and audience.

  • Integrate retention program in email drip after sale.
